The Allan Family

The Allan family from Whangamata have been staying at Ronald McDonald House in Auckland on and off for more than two years, while 3-year-old Mason receives specialist treatment and awaits a kidney transplant. The family see the House as their 'home-away-from-home' and are grateful their whole family can all stay together while they support Mason.

To celebrate Father's Day, RMHC New Zealand worked with nib to plan the perfect surprise for dad Matt and the whole family. The family enjoyed an exclusive experience at Snow Planet, a scenic helicopter flight over Auckland, and a special video message from fishing personality, Matt Watson, for fishing-mad dad Matt.

“I was blown away, it was a total surprise! Every Father’s Day is special as long as I’m with my family, but this will definitely be one for the books. We’ve had a difficult couple of years, but the support of RMHC New Zealand has been invaluable - it truly is a ‘home-away-from-home’ and we know none of it would be possible without partners such as nib. Thanks to nib for their support, and for planning such an incredible day for us to enjoy together,” says Matt.
