Rochelle MacArthur

RMHC New Zealand holds a special place in the heart of our Family Support Coordinator, Rochelle. She became a member of our family over a year ago, and her role involves providing care and support to the families who stay with us.

Rochelle loves getting to know each family, sharing a cup of tea and hearing their stories. “Families who stay with us experience some really challenging times. Helping them through some of their most difficult days has been both a beautiful and heart-breaking journey. You hold their hand during the tough times and you rejoice with them in the good, the smallest of victories are treasured together,” Rochelle says.

During the last year, Rochelle has had many memorable moments, but one special memory was witnessing two young brothers reunite after one had a long stint in the hospital. “I think that moment captures this place well – watching those two boys come back together was one of the most precious things I’ve ever seen.”

Always one to go above and beyond, Rochelle challenged herself by running for Team RMHC New Zealand in the ASB Auckland Marathon in October 2018. She says, “the last time I ran was probably in P.E. class at high school, but nevertheless I trained hard! I wanted raise as much money as I could, so laced up my trainers and encouraged others to join me!”
