Individual Volunteering Christchurch

Individual Volunteering Christchurch

Individual volunteers play a huge role helping to make RMHC a ‘home away from home’ for families. There are a wide range of opportunities currently available in Christchurch and we are always looking for new volunteers to lend a helping hand. Please note, you must be 18 years old or above to volunteer in our programmes.

We ask that you make a minimum commitment of 3-6 months.
Gardener
As a gardener volunteer you play a vital role in keeping the outside of the house tidy and safe for the families. This role is hands on and includes leaf blowing, water blasting, weeding, watering gardens, cleaning the Gazebo and whatever may be needed outside to keep to area tidy and clean.

Dinner Group Host

Family Dinner Support Volunteers will enjoy socialising and be comfortable communicating with groups of people. You will also be passionate about food and confident in the kitchen (food safety training provided). You will be working with the group leader and ensuring the dinner service is on time and the clean-up is completed and the kitchen is left tidy afterwards.

Family Room Lunch Cover

Lunch Cover for the Family Room is to assist the staff to ensure they get a breather and get a break. You would be a friendly face when the families come in and greeting them, ensuring that they sign in and out and showing them what is available to them whilst there.

Maintenance

As a maintenance volunteer you play a vital role in keeping the house safe and operational. This role is hands on and involves checks to ensure playground is safe, BBQ is clean and safe, and more skilled jobs if your experience allows.

Events

Throughout the year we hold events internal and external where we require extra support of our awesome volunteers. Some of these events include Supper Club and Polo.

House Heroes

Not all heroes wear capes! As a House Hero your role is to assist housekeeping to maintain the high levels of cleanliness that are set at the house. In addition to the tangible effect of a clean and hygienic environment, there is also the intangible effect of helping to create and maintain the safe and homely environment in the house.

Individual volunteers play a huge role helping to make RMHC® New Zealand a ‘home-away-from-home’ for families. We are always looking for fabulous volunteers to join our team both in the House and in our Family Rooms.
