As Founding Mission Partner, McDonald’s® New Zealand has been supporting RMHC® New Zealand since it was first established as an independent charity in 1989. McDonald’s franchisees, crew, and suppliers show their support in a variety of ways to help raise much-needed funds.
Every year, RMHC New Zealand offers free accommodation and support to thousands of families with a child in a hospital away from home. This helps relieve stress like paying for a place to sleep near the hospital, organising family meals, and needing a friendly ear to listen on tough days. Globally, the relationship between RMHC and McDonald’s goes back more than 45 years, helping to support families in 64 countries positively impacting over 6.5 million people.

Ways McDonald’s support RMHC New Zealand
McDonald’s New Zealand franchisees, crew and their customers collectively raise over $1.5 million for RMHC New Zealand each year. However, the financial contribution is only one part of this proud partnership, from in-store campaigns to volunteering; there are multiple ways our partnership is cemented.
Happy Meals®
Every time a Happy Meal® is purchased at McDonald’s, a portion of the proceeds is donated to RMHC New Zealand.
Donations via kiosks
McDonald’s customers have the opportunity to add a donation for RMHC New Zealand via the kiosks whilst ordering from the menu.
Collection boxes
Every day, McDonald’s customers help to support families by donating in coin boxes in McDonald’s restaurants.
Newspaper Programme
Thanks to NZME, Stuff and Allied Press, participating McDonald’s restaurants can offer discounted prices on newspapers where a portion of the proceeds is donated to RMHC New Zealand.
RMHC New Zealand Annual Appeal
McDonald’s teams get involved each year in RMHC New Zealand’s Annual Appeal; this usually involves a street collection and in-store activations.
In-restaurant campaigns – Share the Love
Each year McDonald’s runs an in-store fundraising campaign for RMHC New Zealand throughout the country. For a $1 donation you can fill the house with love.
Payroll giving
Over 1000 McDonald’s crew opt in to generously donate weekly to RMHC New Zealand through their payroll. This adds up to make a huge impact.
Fundraising events
RMHC New Zealand has an extensive portfolio of events and many of these are led and supported by Franchisees, committees and crew who often volunteer their time.
Volunteering
Each year McDonald’s Franchisees and crew spend hundreds of generous hours volunteering to make a difference to families who walk through RMHC New Zealand’s doors.

McDonald’s restaurants can request RMHC New Zealand Marketing to display on their walls, drive-thru and playgrounds.
