RMHC® New Zealand announces new board member Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) New Zealand has recently announced the appointment of Scott Brown to their Board of Trustees, effective 8 May 2020.

“We are excited to welcome Scott to our board of Trustees. Scott brings a wealth of experience in senior commercial finance positions across a number of sectors,” said Mark Conelly, RMHC New Zealand Chair. “Scott’s counsel and expertise is a wonderful addition to the board. The type of experience Scott brings is vital to our future growth strategy. Responding to the ever-growing demand to provide accommodation, food and wrap around support, so that families can focus on their child in hospital away from home, requires both compassion and solid business rigour.”

Scott has held senior finance and governance roles across the Food & Agri-Business, Media, Energy and Telecommunications sectors, as well as holding a number of not-forprofit governance roles. Scott is a chartered member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He is also a chartered member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

“I extend a warm welcome to Scott - I am delighted he has joined the board. Like for somany organisations, it has been a challenging few months for RMHC New Zealand, both financially and operationally. However, throughout this time, the board has remained as committed as ever to supporting the senior leadership team to resolve some really
complex problems,” said Wayne Howett, CEO RMHC New Zealand. “Having recently reinstated our programmes in the Ronald McDonald Houses, we now set about to rebuild our programmes over the coming weeks and months. I look forward to working closely with Scott, and the rest of RMHC New Zealand’s board, to focus on how we can reach
even greater heights organisationally - ultimately providing better outcomes for more families.”

Scott’s strategy setting experience, incorporating the very critical rural cohort and his representation of the South Island will add important elements to the Board’s composition.

About RMHC New Zealand

The Ronald McDonald House® and Ronald McDonald Family Room® programmes take care of the practical things in life so families can focus on their child staying in a hospital away from home.

Last year, RMHC New Zealand provided over 44,000 nights of accommodation to more than 4,600 families of unwell children nationwide. This saved families over $11 million in accommodation, meals and parking costs and helps to relieve stresses like paying for a place to sleep near the hospital, organising family meals and needing a friendly ear to listen on tough days.

Simply, we give families with a hospitalised child what they need most — each other.
