RMHC New Zealand is the only essential service in New Zealand that is solely focused on the families of children receiving medical treatment. Approximately one-third of the not-for-profit organisation’s income is through the National Travel Assistance Scheme – which has not been reviewed in over eleven years. Furthermore, the criteria for this assistance determines which families are eligible to access the support provided by RMHC New Zealand - that the organisation believes are outdated and in need of urgent review.
As such, they have sent the RMHC® New Zealand Election Manifesto to the new government to kick start this long-overdue conversation. The manifesto identifies three key areas that need addressing so that RMHC New Zealand can continue to enable family-centred care for more families during their time of need. The areas outlined below will provide a key focus for the organisation over the coming year.
