Dave Whalley

Dave Whalley began his McDonald’s journey 22 years ago, starting out as a manager and working his way up to become a Franchisee. Today, he’s the proud Owner/Operator of five restaurants across the Canterbury region, employing close to 500 staff.

With a deep sense of community, Dave’s governance experience started on the Boards of the schools his two sons attended. He currently serves on the New Zealand Leadership Group for McDonald’s Restaurants, where his passion for people and operational excellence shines through.

RMHC has always held a special place in Dave’s heart. He’s been a vocal champion of the organisation for years. He’s often found praising the organisation within his stores to staff, customers and really anyone who will listen. After serving over a decade on the Board of RMHC South Island, including during the time of amalgamation, Dave always knew he’d find his way back to the Charity in a governance role that matched his passion and commitment.

Despite a busy schedule, Dave’s priority is and always will be his whānau. He spends most weekends and holidays with his wife Andrea and their two sons, who, despite now being in their late 20s, are still keen for a Crusaders game or a day out fishing with ‘Dad’. Known for always making himself available for those who need, Dave is excited to continue making a difference in the lives of families supported by RMHC.
